A 30-year-old man was hacked to death by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district on the suspicion of being a police informer. The incident comes close on the heels of the murder of two men, one of them a former Naxalite, in neighbouring Bijapur district two days ago. The two were killed by Naxalites, as per the police. Earlier on January 26, Naxalites killed a 41-year-old man in Bhairamgarh area of Bijapur, accusing him of being an informer. On January 16, Naxalites killed a 48-year-old man in Mirtur area of Bijapur for the same reason.

A 36-year-old man, suspected to be mentally challenged, was lynched by a mob in Bihar's Bhagalpur district after he allegedly beat two people to death. The incident took place in Makandpur village on Friday night. Chotu Kumar allegedly beat Rajeev Rai (68), Jai Prakash Ram (65), and three others with a wooden log. Rajeev Rai died on the spot, while Jai Prakash Ram succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The other three are undergoing treatment at the nearest government hospital. By the time police reached the spot, locals were beating Chotu Kumar. He was taken to a government hospital where he died during treatment. Further investigation is underway.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested former Haryana Congress MLA Dharam Singh Chhoker from a five-star hotel in Delhi following a brief scuffle. Chhoker, along with his sons, is accused of defrauding over 1,500 homebuyers and siphoning off over Rs 500 crore through their real-estate companies. The ED had been seeking Chhoker's presence in the investigation since May 2022. The politician was caught at the Grappa Bar of the Shangri-La hotel on Ashoka Road. He is currently in ED custody for six days.
